The Setup

So the setup. Hydroponics. Why hydroponics? Well I wanted a more technical growing experience. I am an engineer after-all. I want to be able to grow vegetables in a very automated way and it’s been proven that hydroponics can increase growing speed significantly. Space wise a hydroponics setup requires less than soil. And as a gardener, I can say, soil is messy to work with indoors. Suitable for house plants that don’t move or aren’t being harvested, but not so much for food growing.

Now to conserve even more space, a vertical tower is even better. This makes the setup Aeroponics. The roots suspended in the air and nutrients are dripped onto them. Below is an example of the different systems used for growing.
